We may or may not have...

Nic may or may not have had fun playing with this game.

Isa may or may not have mastered The Claw.

Nic may or may not be considering his strategy...
with pizza on his face.

Isa may or may not have stolen tokens from her poor, little brother.

My mom may or may not have tried cleaning up the table before I snapped this pic.
And I may or may not have gotten her permission to post this here pic on my blog.
Love you, mom.

I may or may not think this picture is cool.

Nic may or may not be trying to decide on his loot.

Nic may or may not be asking me for more tokens so he can trade them in for a truck.

He may or may not have been upset when I said "no."

Alex may or may not have been happy for me for being a mamarazzi.

We may or may not have played hooky today...

[alex and isa had ortho appts mid-day, so we did those then called up the moms and told her to get her butt over to the pizza joint for some fun time. or did we?!?!]

Fall Break

It's been a few days since I've posted... Not on purpose, I promise.
It's just that we've been so busy getting things moved/cleaned/set-up around here, that the days appear to be flying.  Before we knew it, Fall Break started. The kids have been off of school since the 11th; Isabel goes back tomorrow and Alex goes back on Tuesday.

The husband and I also decided to observe Fall Break; we each took a week of vacation.

We cleaned our hearts out at the old place and turned in the keys on Thursday (a day early).

We did some more IKEA shopping. And dining room table shopping (can't wait to share - must take pictures).

We had a little get-together with some of my family here at the house today. My grandparents came to see it for the first time, along with my aunts and uncles, and my mom and dad.  We had lunch and visited -- it was nice.

Now that things appear to be settled... I cannot wait to enjoy this new chapter in our life.

Up next... Alex's birthday. He will be 15 on Halloween. We are having his party on the 29th - in the evening.
I am going to spend some time this week planning and prepping for that.

Also, I have two dressers to refinish AND we will be repainting Isabel's room.

Wow... so much for relaxing and easing back into routines. Our to-do list is still quite long.
I guess we will tackle each thing, one at a time.

10.10.10

We've been soooo busy.
Trying to get the old place cleaned up and carpets done... and trying to sort through the boxes we've been bringing over to the new house.  And work, and school, and stuff.

Busy, busy, busy.

We did, however, start Fall Break and Vacation (well, as of tomorrow). We have plans to chillax, go fishing, BBQ tons, and do stuff around the house.

Today, is Football (Go Cardinals!) and Hamburgers on the grill. Perfection!

Happy Ten, Ten, Ten Day!  There won't be another one like it for 100 years. Crazy, huh?!
Maybe my grandkids will be around to blog about it.

It's only official once the wreath comes out

Thanks to the invention of 3M and my new oil-rubbed bronze hooks, I am now ready to celebrate fall.

I know... it still looks a little plain. But, we are trying.

Here is Mr. Hottie Scare-Crow up close and personal.

And finally, we got around to putting 2 chairs on the front porch.
They are not the forever chairs, but they will do for now.

The evenings are cooling off [some] and it's been so nice to sit out and watch the kids play at the park across the street.

Happy Fall, ya'll!

EDITED TO ADD: We had a crazy storm just about all day yesterday; rain, thunder, lightening, wind - you name it!  At one point, our front porch chairs were blown into the yard. I opened the door to get them, and Nic said "Mom, you need to take down the Halloween Christmas thing so it doesn't blow away."

Halloween Christmas thing?

Oh. My fall wreath!

Chuckle Chuckle.

God I love that kid.

Storm Chasers

What a beautiful afternoon.
A storm was coming.

We wanted to play at the park before it hit.

We only got about 10 minutes of play time... but it sure was fun!

Water slide!

Fancy

Do you know what I love about having a three year old? He tells it like it is. Or at least how I hope it appears.  Do you remember these [semi] QT pies?

Well, Nic and I had some time before lunch this morning to get out our supplies and add some color to our Ross finds.  I had already picked out the colors, a spearmint/jade/aloe green and a bright golden yellow. They will compliment the other items we already have in the kitchen and also the fabric my dear dad will be using to make valances for me.

The wind was so-so, but we [Nic, Milo the Dog, and I] decided to brave the back patio; it's completely covered and provided some protection from the wind.  We got out our handy-dandy supplies.

I don't even know if I have ever spray painted before; it didn't appear to be too difficult. Especially once I realized which way the spray would go, due to the slight breeze.  I love how the spearmint/jade/aloe vase turned out. I think it's perfect.

And because it was so perfect, I decided to try the other vase.

The sunny yellow paint just about dripped off the vase. But I wasn't going to let that stop me. I just kept spraying and spraying, adjusting my distance from the thing as needed.  I stopped once, just to grab my camera that was in danger of getting Bright Yellow speckles on it. Saved. Whew.  And this is how it turned out.

So I sprayed it a few more times and convinced myself that way UP there on the cabinet, no one would see the drip marks. And if they did, I would say it was done on purpose.
Don't judge art people; it ain't right.

Here is an example of my spearmint/jade/aloe color.

Here are the two finished pieces in their new home.

I don't have a lot going on up there yet, but I figured it could be a work in progress.

Regardless of bald spots or paint drips, Nic announced, without prompt, that they looked "fancy." That pretty much made my day. The other thing that will finish making my day freakin' awesome? Figuring out how to get my arms to feel not so sticky. I am not sure what happened. There doesn't appear to be paint speckles... but it sure does feel like it. In fact, I feel like one of those tape/sticky/string things that hangs from the cieling and catches flyes. You know what I am talking about.

And I know all you  moms know, I can't even fathom a shower until my little lover of art takes a nap [not going to happen] or hits the hay for the night. Sticky it is.
