My Goals for Today [Free Printable]

The word "goals" is much better than the command "do"... right?
Can I get an "Amen"...?

I admit - the end of summer is near and I, your royal highness, is feeling a tad bit whelmed. (Is that even a word? Name that movie?!)

In two short weeks, I am sending my kiddos off to school. All THREE kiddos. Which means, I will be home alone. Well, just me and the pups.

Don't mind them.

Of course, I do have a full time job, so I won't exactly be sitting on the couch, watching 90210 re-runs, sipping on Dr. Pepper and eating Chips Ahoy during the entire 6.5 hours of bliss.

Nope. I still have things to do, places to go, and food to make, bake, or microwave.

I decided to ease my mind a little and created a sweet sheet - a place to document my goals for the day. Of course, if I am unable to complete one of the goals, I can always move it to the next day.

Here's what I recommend:
  • If you print using Picasa, change it so that it fits onto the screen and remove the borders. It will print nicely.
  • Use the back of scrap paper. It's pretty, but it doesn't have to be THAT pretty.
  • Use a clip board and keep it handy! You know, so that you can easily check off an item when you've completed it!
  • For even more fun?! Keep each of the sheets and add them to a memory book so that for years to come, you can marvel at your awesomeness. :) Be sure to add the date to your page! I add mine above the bunting swag (top right hand corner).
Here's a glimpse of what I've jotted down for today...

There is nothing more I love than a list and a clean desk. Well... at least I got the list part taken care of. Here's to tackling the cleaning of my desk...tomorrow?!

Lovely, Lovely Linen

I think I found THE color. Thankfully... considering I purchased two cans of it assuming it was THE color.
After we got it on the wall, it was confirmed.

We were up late last night putting the finishing touches on the feature wall in our formal dining room. The kids and I are going to start moving things and taping off the rest of the formal living & dining rooms today to get ready to paint the entire space.

Here's a sneak peak of how it's looking:

Keep in mind, the picture was taken at night, sans flash on my Android. I will see if I can get a better picture today! ;)

Back so soon, Monsoon?

We had crazy storms last summer...
It looks like we may see a repeat THIS summer...

We just had a storm blow in fast & furious... These are the only pics I could get before I ran for cover (hee hee).

My poor trees in the backyard are doing the freakin' limbo...
Around the limbo world.

Kind of Awkward, me thinks.

Last night - I went out. To Bunco, with my mom and her Bunco group. They've been together for over 30 years. My own Bunco group flopped. :(

I was happy to get away. The kids were getting on my nerves. =) [No! Not them!]
Marcos had to work late, so Alex was in charge.

At one point during the night, I called to check on the kids and Alex said that everyone was okay (aka no one was hanging from a ceiling fan, no band-aids were needed, etc). I asked where Nic was.  Alex reported that Nic was in the family room watching Toy Story. He LOVES those movies, still. He can watch all of them, back-to-back without batting an eye.

Fast forward a few hours. I got home at 1am. The kids were in bed, the husband was watching TV in our bedroom. I check the downstairs to make sure everything was locked down and then smiled when I saw what greeted me in the family room.

I guess Nic had some friends over to watch the movies with him. I have no idea why Woody wasn't invited, especially since Bullseye was there. And did you know that Buzz had a twin? Without hands?

How awkward that must be to watch yourself on TV?!

A Little Shopping Spree for Me

I couldn't help myself. It had been so long since I've stepped into a Ross, Goodwill or Hobby Lobby [especially the latter]. But I am proud to say that I did limit myself to the extreme sale items.

Look at these "weights" I picked up. Added them to my kitchen, to go along with the numbers theme.

Found these cute things at Ross.

More Hobby Lobby...
And at these prices, I figured I could use the vase and the platter thingies for Halloween decorations. I even picked up two more smaller vases, all black, for $0.80 each. You can't buy real Halloween decorations for that cheap!

Swoon... Maybe I was a squirrel in a previous life?!

And look at these lovely "parchment" scrolls. I have some great ideas for these. They are the Gettysburg Address, the Constitution and the Presidents. Excited about this project, for sure.

I have a few more home accent items not shown, that I picked up for cheaply cheap. I love when I am able to do that.

However, I will admit that when I stepped into Hobby Lobby yesterday, what greeted me was a shock to my system. Fall AND Christmas. Full blown. In July.
I don't remember Christmas being put out this early. Of course.. I stayed clear of all of that... none of it was on sale; I refuse to do that to my pocketbook!

The Kitchen is coming together now...

Do you remember my inspiration picture for my kitchen?

No? Here's a reminder:

Isn't she a beaut?
Obviously, being in a newly built home (less than two years old), there isn't a WHOLE lot I am going to change, but I do want to give our large kitchen BIG CHARACTER.

While I was at Ross yesterday, I came across two 11x14" frames - reduced to $8.99 each. I love it when things are available in twos. I picked them up.

I scoured the net looking for something to put IN those frames. I wanted something suitable for the kitchen, but not too kitchen-y. I remembered that I bought a book of scrapbook paper that had yet to be opened. It was vintage and loverly. After browsing through the pages, I decided on these two:

They are similar in color and there's a numbers and words theme. I love them!
I asked Alex to help with getting everything hung (moved the clock from another location)... and he obliged.

Eeks! I took the above picture at an angle. The new pictures are centered on the cabinets. Promise. But do you see some similarities to my inspiration pic?

Here... let me help!

Just to bring some perspective...I have 10 ft. ceilings... But I also have tall cabinets...

And here's what I have going on to the left. A plate I bought at Hobby Lobby the week we closed on the house. Also, a new fork and spoon from the HL I got a few weeks back. Simple.

I am starting to work on my other side of the kitchen and should have two more updates for you this week!
Excited much?!

Speaking of 'Lights'

While we were at Home Depot this past weekend, the husband picked up some lights for the garage. A pair to be exact. And each light has 4 bulbs. And is as bright as all get out.

Alex and Marcos spent Saturday evening installing #1 of 2. It takes a while, I guess. To keep things simple, the husband is replacing existing small, not-very-bright lights. In the picture below you can see the new light, freshly installed. And towards the back, you can see the small 'before' light, yet to come down.

This added light will make everything much easier to see and do in his man-garage. The lights were $39 each - and the 10 pack of bulbs was $24 (I think. I can't remember. I was still grinning from ear-to-ear about my new vintage pendant).

While the installing installation of this first light did take a while, it didn't go without complications. Namely, Alex let a drill bit bite him in the... forearm.

He kept trying to get my to kiss it and make it all better. I kept trying to get him to rinse it with peroxide. When I first saw it, I thought it looked like a snake bite.

Nope, he's not that cool.

P.S. I know it looks like we are a crazy bunch of fools, getting stuff done around the house. But I assure you, in a week or two, the usual lull will creep in. And we will be worthless and lazy again. Look forward to those posts, do you?! ;)
