This is not just ANY dresser. It was my mom's as a kid... and then it was mine as a kid... and it's been through ALL three of my children... but now it's back with Isa.
It started out this color:
And when Nic was born, I decided to stain it Island Blue (to go with his Palm Tree themed room).
Yes, those are zip tie drawer pulls. Classy, huh?!
There were during a transition period. Promise.
Anyway - the whole house has been full of sickies... so we had no where to go or be. I decided to finish the dresser (considering it was already primed and just waiting for me).
So, the husband finally got the now painted thing lugged up to Isabel's room.
It looks so small right now... I think it's because all of her furniture is the same height. We are looking for a headboard for her - and now that I see how the dresser looks in the room, I think I will look for something that has some height to it.
For the time being, Isa is just glad she finally has a place to put her socks and under-roos.
For the vinyl lettering, still trying to decide on a quote or poem that would well for Isabel. Flying high is not a message I want to convey to my pre-teen! ;)
I added some butterflies to the empty frames on her Wall O' Pictures. Still need to add a few things to complete it - just need to find the right things! ;)
Finally - I have at least one more project involving a sander... Nic's dresser. His is the brother dresser to Isa's. It's much smaller (same height, but a chest rather than a full set of drawers).
Am I saying drawers too much?
Feels like it.
Here it is sitting in my kitchen - but that's just because we needed it out of my garage. We are going to keep (and clean up) the gold drawer (there, again!) pulls... but paint the chest a charcoal gray/black. Hopefully it will resemble a treasure chest when all is said and done. You know, to go with Nic's pirate theme?!
Anyway, we are on the mend here (the husband was the last to get sick)... I hope the germies stay gone. I can't wait for the weather to warm up - lots to do (e.g. back yard landscaping which we are doing on our own - GULP!).
I also want to get outside; I've become addicted to bike riding. I am down EIGHT pounds since Christmas! Yay for me eating Turkey meatballs!!
Um, yeah. Forget that last thought.
Hope you all are having a fantastic week. If you are stuck in snowy part of the country, make a snow angel for me!
