A Royal Workout - Week 3

I know what you're thinking.

This lady works for a bank?! No wonder the economy still hasn't quite recovered; she can't count!

Well, I will have you know that I can count almost to a hundred. So there.

There was no Week 2. That's the bottom line. I hate that life and the sickies got the best of me last week. I missed three whole workouts with Coach Asad.

Feel free to click on the picture above to be taken to the rest of the posts in this series...

So, after missing three boot camp workouts, I knew I had to go tonight. Plus, I was a teeny bit afraid of texting Coach to let him know that I still wasn't feeling it. My neck and upper back has been sore. Tight. Tension. Groooaaannn!

I put my big girl under-roos on and just went. But I didn't shave my legs, so there. ha. I told him, didn't I?

More than likely not.

Once I got to class, I met V, our newest boot camp buddy. She came prepared to foam roll!

Look at her gettin' her roll on.
Wait, she's fallen and she can't get up!!!

This particular workout was TOUGH.

We did intervals of 10 seconds on, 5 seconds rest. And really the 5 seconds rest was just long enough for me to haul my double-wide up off of the ground, to move on to the next exercise.  5 minutes for each leg of the exercise. 15 minutes or so, may not seem like a lot, but it was. Trust me.

At one point, just when I was about to say something... he walked up behind me and said, "No negative comments, please!"

Mind reader, that Britt.

What I was going to say, and what I was eventually able to get out, was that at one point, my tatas were choking me. All that up/down, up/down, up/down. I had no idea what my death certificate would read:

Death by Coach Asad
or
Death by Booby Suffocation

But I knew I was going to die. I got dizzy. Felt nauseous. All that jumping up and down; I had to pee!

As per usual, the last few minutes, where we stretched, etc, were the best. We could joke and laugh again. I could stop crying. Eventually.

Coach and I talked for a few minutes after class tonight. He really wants me to focus on my eating and food journaling. He asked that I stay away from bread and refined sugar. Thank the mexican lordy that tortillas are still on the list. Right?!  Hmph.

I decided that I need to go ahead with his suggestions; he knows what he's doing after all.  So, I plan on cleaning up my act. For example, for dinner tonight - this is what I had:

I wasn't feeling so well, all that water on a worked-out gut... You know, right? But I knew I needed the fuel. So I had 3 oz (if that) of cheese, 1 cup of mushrooms and 2 cups of zucchini. And then 5 almonds. And iced tea. And that was plenty.

So, again - week 3, here is my before and after from today's workout.

Hey, at least I match!
And look at all my craziness below. I should have left the picture unaltered, so that you could see how red my face was. Oh well. Trust.

Off to add my dinner to today's food journal (which can be found here, btw).

Anyone else working on a get fit program?! Love to hear about it! Also if you are in the QC/STV area, I'd love for you to check out Fitness Revolution; I need all of the workout buddies I can get.

Especially if your name is Accountability.  =)

The Marvelous World of Marvel Comics

We took the kids to see The Avengers last week.

Now, I only have seen a few of the movies; I think all of the Ironman movies. But I think that's it.
I loved the Avengers movies and look forward to a sequel. I am so glad that they used the same actors for it, as they used in the individual movies.

We saw the movie at the Cine Capri - the largest screen in Arizona. It was amazing.

Poor Nico fell asleep halfway in. But he loves the Hulk, Ironman and Captain America. So I decided to make him a few "posters" to hang in the loft.

I borrowed the superhero images from Google, and then added a background and text using Photoshop. I have them printed out and put in an 8x10 frame. They turned out super cute. Er. Adventurous? All that matters is that Nico loves them.

And that Marcos is taking Nico back to the 3D version of the movie tomorrow, to make up for him falling asleep (thank gosh for gift cards!).

Definitely go see the movie; it's action packed and fun!

UPDATE: Added them below! If you have any issues download, email me at QOTC at COX.NET

Can't Forget the Mommas...

I know... I was kind of putting my cart before the horse with my Summer printables post, yesterday. It's just that when the inspiration strikes, I go with it! =)

After several conversations on the phone with my mom yesterday, I woke up inspired to create some Mother's Day printables. Lucky for you, huh?!

They are both in 5x7 and can be downloaded for free by clicking on the Box documents below. Super easy.

I am having my mom (and my dad) along with my grandma, my aunt, uncle and cousin over to celebrate Mother's Day this Sunday. Unfortunately, Marcos has to work... :(  But I do look forward to spending some precious time with the "moms" in my life.

What are your big plans for Mother's Day?!

Barefoot Nico & A Slight Adventure

We dropped Nico off at my parents' house this past weekend. He was due for a mini-vacation, just him and his grandma and grandpa.  We got there late Friday evening... he was excited! It had been almost a year since he last got to spend the night.

The excitement wore off mid-morning the next day. He wanted to come home. In the worst way.
He called me and said that he knew I missed him... and because of that, he should come home! Mind you, we live about 40 minutes from my parents... it wasn't a quick drive. Knowing he was perfectly fine, I told him to behave and enjoy his time.

My mom called a few minutes later. Nico certainly has a mind of his own.

He decided that he was coming home, one way or another. He literally packed up as much as he could, in his little suitcase, grabbed his bear and exited the front door.

Nico was about 5 or 6 houses down the road, when he realized that the ground was too hot for him to be walking barefoot. He finally succumbed to my parents who were calling him from their front yard.  However, he refused to bring his suitcase back. My dad had to eventually rescue it.

All was forgotten, of his failed attempt at escaping, when my parents took him out for pizza and games later on that night. Nico called me again, but only to ensure that I was looking at the super moon at the same time he was.

He had a great night. But wouldn't you know that he had my parents in the car at 12:30 the next day to bring him home, earlier than planned?! He said he just missed us toooo much! :)

I love that kid.

Summer Printables

Can you believe that May is way underway? And that before long, summer will be here?
Crazy...
I decided to celebrate the fact that in only a few short days, my kiddos will hanging out with me for two whole months (can't decide if I am happy or sad about that!)...
Here are a few free summer printables for you! You know, to get you in the spirit of all things summer! :)

Download them below...

Enjoy!

P.S. I know that teacher's aren't really giving dirty looks, right?! It's the song lyrics. I had to stay true to Alice Cooper! :)

An Amazing Sight

Picture this... it's Saturday night... around 8:45pm Pacific time. We are outside, looking for this:

(via Channel 12 Facebook site, Uploaded by Janice Heath-Escochea - Photo Editing by Me!)

But the little telescope we are trying to use isn't doing a well enough job. My good camera isn't charged, so I can't take a picture. I had too much CranRaspberry Margarita, maybe. Either way, instead of the super moon, something else caught my eye.

My little palm tree out front has a growth on it. Maybe two. I had no idea these types of palms had growths on them (margarita, remember?!). I was in awe.

I left the kids looking at the moon through the telescope and I tried to figure out what was going on with the landscaping. Abby swears she sees David Bowie on the moon, holding up a sign, declaring his love for her.
I pay her no attention; this palm tree growth has me intrigued.

After spending some time on Google, not quite remembering the type of palm we have but guessing, I decided those growths make my little palms look suspiciously like those of the much older date palms.

Do you think they are dates?! Or will be dates?
That makes me wonder if these palms will one day grow up to be BIG palms. I thought they'd stay little forever. If I would have know, I wouldn't have put them so close to the front of my house.

Uh-oh.

Edited to Add: My dad came over on Sunday afternoon. He said they are Pygmy Date palms. After several hours of sleep, I remember now. =)
