What an afternoon! :) We are soooo excited.

Update on Nic

=D
Nic had his 15 mo old check up today. He was such a spazz at the doctors office, trying to get as much attention as he could. He was hitting the walls, tearing up the paper (the stuff that is supposed to keep the bed/table sterile-ish)... He was "talking"... He was laughing... Just real active. He's getting to be more that way, for sure.

So, he weighs 24.6 lbs and is 30 and 3/4" tall/long. He is in the 50th percentile for both. For FULL TERM babies. She said he is doing magnificent.

She said his tone looks great, loves that he is a speed crawler, hands on cruiser, and Olympic Knee-Walker. She says she won't worry abt his walking until around 18 months. But wouldn't you know - Nic took 2 steps by himself last night, just to the other couch. But then later on, he was jiggling my car keys, and then took three steps, before falling. Isa was screaming for me, I caught the tail end of it! lol...

While Nic is vocal (and getting more so every day) - he doesn't say any defined words (he can say Dada, and he knows who Dada is, but it's more random). So, the doctor wants to ensure that we are doing everything we can for Nic, she is referring us to Arizona's Early Intervention Program, for Speech. If they see that work needs to be done, we will jump at the chance.

For preemies (especially ones born 28 weeks or early) there are several things we have to watch out for. The first being cerebral palsy. However, Nic's tone (and his accomplishments) have pretty much ruled that out. In the next year or two, we have to watch for Autisim and Learning Disabilities. His eyes are still perfect (we have to do a check before his starts kindergarten) and his heart is wunderbar (if you remember, he had to have surgery to close a valve when he was 7 weeks old). There are no signs of a mummer. Whew.

Dr. Jones mentioned that Nic should not be watching more than 2 hours of TV per day. And you all know how much he loves his TV. But not as much as we love him, so we are implementing strict rules around TV watching. It's going to be hard, but he deserves the chance to really discover and learn on his own. So we are giving him that chance. We will let you know how it goes.

Nic got two shots yesterday - and took them like a man! Cried like crazy, and then fell asleep! =D

After all of that... we decided he needed a haircut!

So we took him to Cool Cuts 4 Kids (over here on Power and Baseline) - and got him right in. He was so excited to see the car again, and stared "driving" right away (he loves to steer). They put a Diego DVD in, and the lady started cutting. Not one tear, not one cry - however, every once in a while he look at her as if to say "where did you come from? what are you doing? can't you see I am watching Diego here?". It was too cute. Marcos missed his first hair cut, so it was nice that he could come along (and play the video games that were meant for the kids!!!). =D

Alex and Isa almost died when they saw Nic - they couldn't get over how cute he looked.
It's hard to believe that Nic will be 16 mo old on Wednesday!

Without futher ado... (note, I couldn't get him to sit still for a photo, so here's a few)...
